Two Injured in Marysville Crash on Interstate 5
Marysville, Washington (May 16, 2018) – Two people were injured when an 18-wheeler rear-ended a vehicle on Wednesday morning in Marysville, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The wreck was reported just before 5 a.m. on Interstate 5 North near Smokey Point.
WSP said vehicles were stopped in a construction zone when the driver of an 18-wheeler failed to stop and crashed into the back of a pickup truck pulling a trailer.
Emergency crews responded to the incident and freed people who were trapped in the wreckage.
Two people were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
WSP said 100 gallons of diesel were spilled onto the roadway and was cleared by a Hazmat team.
The crash caused a closure of two southbound lanes of 1-5 as crews worked to clear the scene.
