Lee Elliott Missing, Wife Joan Burns Hospitalized after Bainbridge Island Plane Crash
Bainbridge Island, Washington (May 29, 2018) – Authorities have identified the victims of the plane crash that left a woman critically hurt, and a man missing on Sunday evening off Bainbridge Island.
According to a report by the Coast Guard, the wreck happened at about 5:30 p.m. May 27 near Eagle Harbor.
70-year-old Lee Elliott and his wife Joan Burns, both of Edmonds, were on board his 1974 Cessna two-seater fixed wing single engine when it went down and sank.
Burns was saved by a Good Samaritan, who was among many that jumped into their boats to rescue the victims.
Burns was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
The crews continued to look for Elliott day and night but could not locate him. The search was called off on Monday afternoon.
The NTSB is investigating the crash.
