Monica Santos Dies in Tacoma Crash at East 56th Street and McKinley Avenue
Tacoma, Washington (May 17, 2018) – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Tuesday night in Tacoma, according to the Tacoma Police Department.
The accident happened at around 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at the intersection of East 56th Street and McKinley Avenue.
Police said Monica Santos, 67, of Tacoma, was driving northbound on McKinley Avenue when the driver of a 2002 Dodge Stratus ran a red light at the intersection of East 56th Street and struck her car.
The driver who ran the light reportedly got out of his vehicle and fled on foot.
Santos was killed in the crash. Her passenger, a 53-year-old, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police are looking for the hit-and-run driver.
