Yakima Man Norman Simpson Killed in Richland Crash on Interstate 182
Richland, Washington (May 29, 2018) – A man was killed in a two-vehicle collision involving a wrong-way driver on Monday morning in Richland, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The crash occurred shortly after 7 a.m. Monday, May 28, on Interstate 182 near Milepost 4.
WSP said 29-year-old Gregorio Charyez of Pasco was driving a Dodge Caliber Hatchback eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-182 when he collided with a Ford Escort hatchback, driven by 55-year-old Norman Simpson of Yakima.
Simpson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Charyez was treated for his injuries at the scene.
WSP said drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.
Charyez was booked into the Benton County Jail. WSP is investigating the crash.
